New Celine Dion Album In March!

Celine's new studio album titled 'One Heart' will be released on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 in North America and on March 24 internationally. The first single, "I Drove All Night," will hit radio in the coming weeks. This Roy Orbison classic was written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. Celiine's incredible recording of the song is produced by Peer Astrom and Vito Luprano.

The Chrysler commercial song that should hit the airwaves soon is a cover of Cindy Lauper's hit "I Drove All Night" ( which was also covered by Roy Orbison ).

Celine Dion, who has signed on to represent Chrysler's new models with a song written for the campaign, is now working on an entire new album that will include that song. Max Martin, Peer Anstrom, Rick Wake and Umberto Gatica have all been producing tracks for the collection, which is expected to be released in conjunction with the March 25 opening of Dion's concert production, "A New Day," at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The popular 34 year old Quebec singer has announced on tuesday to have signed a three-year deal with the auto maker DaimlerChrysler to promote their new cars in the United States only. The financial terms for the advertising deal were not disclosed, but is estimated to be around $10 million. The slogan ?Drive = love? will begin in January with the launch of a new TV ad featuring the Charlemagne singer. In Canada, neither the face nor the melodies sung by Celine Dion will appear in the ads for the two new models Chrysler will launch at the beginning of 2003. The Canadian branch's marketing division of the auto maker chose to renew their association with the current spokesperson, Canadian jazz singer Diana Krall. Launched last February, the TV ad on which Diana sang The Look of Love was very succesful and a new one is currently under production for 2003. ?We stay loyal to Diana Krall?, mentionned LuAnn Barrette, press secretary for DaimlerChrysler Canada, adding that ?Celine Dion and Diana Krall were both music icons?. The decision to choose Diana Krall over Celine Dion was very difficult, says LuAnn Barrette. ?We decided to work around an advertisement that was already known among Canadians?, she added. According to James Kenyon, Press representative for DaimlerChrysler USA, Celine Dion and her husband haven't decided yet if their son, Rene-Charles, will appear with his mother in the US commercials. ?It could surely happen. We are still discussing it. It'll be their decision?, explains Mr Kenyon during an cell phone interview. In a Tuesday New York Times article, a senior vice president of global brand marketing at Chrysler, George Murphy, was almost celebrating over this new association. ?Can you imagine putting her with her baby Ren?in the back of one of our minivans and having her sing one of her love ballads? We'd have all of America crying. Seriously,? said Murphy. While becoming the Chrysler spokesperson, Celine Dion will sing a song specifically written for the auto maker. Later, some of her own songs will be part of other ads. The track selection is still under negotiation. ?Celine Dion becomes the spokesperson for the entire line of product. There will be TV ads but also other type of advertisement everywhere,? mentions James Kenyon. Celine Dion and her husband Rene Angelil's press agent, Francine Chaloult, said on Tuesday that it was the musical aspect for the advertisement campain that attracted the famous couple. ?The campaign is based on Celine's music,? she mentionned. The Dion-Angelil couple were in Las Vegas on Tuesday where a press conference was given on the subject. ?Soon I'll be driving a Town and Country minivan, which is going to be a family thing,? explained Celine Dion to the New York Times. ?I'm ready to pick my own tomatoes with my son and my husband. That's my goal. Forget the limousines.? In 1988, Celine Dion was then a French and English spokesperson for Chrysler Canada. Her contract was for three years. She was also a spokesperson for the department store The Bay in the mid 90s, and for Diet Coke as well. The new campaign ?Drive = love? targets the 35 years old and over, precisely for the new Pacifica model, a hybrid minivan, a SUV and a station wagon.

British rock band Muse are threatening legal action against Canadian superstar Celine Dion over herplanned use of the title Muse for a string of shows in Las Vegas. The band own the rights to the useof the term worldwide, including live performances and records. The management company for Dion, who has sold more than 140 million records world-wide, offered to buy the rights for $50,000 (?2,000) but the offer was rejected by the band. They fear its use would jeopardise their chances of cracking theUS market. The band told the firm they didn't want to appear to be "Celine Dion's support act". But the management company are pressing ahead with plans to use the title anyway, prompting the band to consider suing the singer. 'Backing band' The firm told Muse: "Our client will proceed without theproposed settlement and will use the markCeline Dion Muse for its shows and related goods and services." The band's lead singer Matthew Bellamysaid: "We fully intend to crack America with our next albumand we don't want to turn up there with peoplethinking we're Celine Dion's backing band." "I find her music completely offensive for a start and I'm sure our fans do as well. "They've now told us they arepressing ahead with the Muse name whether we like it or not - they think if we try and sue them they will crush us with their might." Dion will appear in Las Vegas in March, at a brand-new 4,000-seat theatre at the Caesar's Palace casino, designed to resemble the Colosseum in Rome. The concert is scheduled to runfor a minimum of three years with tickets costing up to $1,000. A bronze star with Dion's name was placed in the sidewalk outside the old Montreal forum, now known as the Pepsi Forum. The star is next to the one for hockey legend Maurice (Rocket)Richard.
